The Wednesday Wedding Favour - “Bubbly” Champagne Bubbles (Set of 24)

Bubbly Champagne Bubbles

"Bubbly" Champagne Bubbles

Ok, so I forgot about the Wednesday Wedding Favour last week.  Leave it to me to start something and forget about it the very next week.  I even did this video up in advance so I could get it out, and I just plain old forgot about it.

So here we are, two weeks later and Sean’s pick is the “Bubbly” Champagne Bubbles that are sold in sets of 24.

Sprinkle a few bottles of bubbly on each table at your wedding reception, or hand them out at the church for your guests to use instead of confetti.  The kids will definitely love them, but who are we kidding, everyone loves bubbles!

When the celebration calls for champagne, the favors call for a bit of the bubbly, too! Treat your guests to the joy of bubble-blowing by thanking them with “Bubbly” Champagne Bubbles from Kate Aspen. It’s sparkling, good fun!

Features and facts:

  • Green, mini champagne magnum of bubbles has a simple, screw-off cap
  • Tan bottle label on the neck says Celebrate! in white letters, and the primary label is white with gold accents and says Bubbly Champagne Bubbles
  • Each bottle contains one ounce of bubbles
  • Bottle measures 3 ¾” h x 1 ¼” in diameter
  • Sold in a set of 24

You can find these great wedding favour bubbles at the LRS Wedding Solutions Wedding Favour Store.

Jeff and Christine’s Global Wedding Wish

Friend’s of ours, Jeff and Christine, are finalists in the Global Wedding Wish competition and we wanted to do our part to help spread the word about all the great things they are doing as part of their “paying it forward” campaign.  The idea of the contest (to the best of our knowledge) is to creatively promote the contest and the sponsors of the contest, with the winners ultimately winning a free wedding!  Jeff & Christine are up against three other couples in the competition.

What makes Jeff and Christine’s entry a little bit different is all in their approach.  They are going out in the community and doing nice things for complete strangers, with hopes that everyone will pay it forward.  To date they have been doing things like visiting the sponsor’s stores and handing out cookies, plugging expried parking meters, and buying donuts for random people behind them in the Tim Horton’s drive-thru.

As part of that campaign, they are also holding a Pizza/Pasta Fundraiser on Friday, March 6th from 6-9 pm at 4Seasons.  Tickets are $15 and are available by calling Christine (581-7399) or Jeff (535-9901).

And the best part is that the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chris Knox Foundation.  For those of you that don’t know, Chris Knox was a young man that captured the hearts of Saskatchewan with his story during the Rider’s run to the 2007 Grey Cup.  Chris was battling cancer, but that didn’t affect his love for the Riders.  The team was inspired by his story and after one game (I believe it was the big labour day win where Kerry Joseph ran in a touchdown in the last moments of the game) the team invited Chris and his family into the dressing room and gave him the game ball.

When the Rider’s made it to the Grey Cup, there was a push from the local community to get Chris to the Grey Cup along with a number of other deserving young people suffering through terrible illnesses.  Coincidentally (or maybe not), one of the big supporters of the cause was the owner of the 4Seasons, George Yannitsos (the host of Jeff and Christine’s pizza/pasta fundraiser) who stepped up along with others from the community to make the trip possible.

Chris has since passed, but his legacy lives on through the Chris Knox Foundation.  The charity helps make dreams come true for young people (under 30) battling cancer, are in remission, or are receiving palliative care by helping them to attend sporting, fine arts, and cultural events.

We’re going to do our best to be at the fundraiser on March 6th and we hope you do as well.

To keep up to date with everything going on with Jeff and Christine during the Global Wedding Wish Contest, check out their Facebook group.

And remember, pay it forward!

Regina Wedding Coupon Alert

Flipping through the Regina Leader-Post this morning we found a discount offer for Debra Dee Weddings in Regina that we thought you might be able to take advantage of.

On page B2 of the Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 Leader-Post there is a half-page ad for Debra Dee Weddings announcing their new location at 100E 2201 11th Ave.  If you cut out the ad and take it with you you will receive 10% off your initial purchase of ruglar priced merchandise.

We’re assuming it applies to all of their regular price tuxedos, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and accessories.  There also doesn’t seem to be an expiry date on the offer, so clip it out and save it even if you don’t need it now - it might come in handy later, you never know.

Below is a Google Map showing the new location:

Marathon Wedding Live from San Diego on Ustream.tv

I was just on Ustream.tv, possibly the best thing to happen to the Internet since YouTube, and stumbled upon a pretty remarkable wedding event that’s taking place in San Diego tomorrow.

Soft rock radio station KyXy is putting on a 10 hour wedding marathon, where 30 couples will wed.  And the best part is that it will all be broadcast live on the Internet via Ustream.tvYou can see pictures of all the happy couples here.

Diane Bell or the Union Tribune reports that the couples will each receive a 20 minute ceremony, flowers, photos, a tux, and a reception for 15 people.  She goes on to say that as of January 31st, over 200 couples had submitted 250 word essays describing why they deserved a free wedding - many of which claiming that a wedding was just to cost prohibitive for them.

It sounds like a pretty cool event.  It’s a win-win-win situation for everyone involved.  The radio drums up some sponsorship dollars around the big event, a few wedding service providers get some good exposure, and 30 couples get a free wedding.

But besides all that, I think it’s great that they’re using Ustream to broadcast the event on the net.  I’ve actually been thinking that it would be a great idea for all brides and grooms to broadcast their weddings on Ustream so that people who can’t make it from out of town could still take in the ceremony.  Maybe I’ll have to put together a blog post on how to stream your wedding live in the future.

If you’d like to watch the festivities tomorrow, check out the KyXy Ustream.tv channel at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kyxy-live.

Weddingbook – Your Facebook Wedding Planning Application

It’s no secret, today just about everyone has a Facebook account.  It’s a great tool to help people communicate and generally be more social.  So why not use it to make your wedding planning process more social?

Recently wedding website The Knot purchased the Facebook application Weddingbook, an online wedding planner and community.  We’ve played around with it a little bit and it’s a pretty neat tool.

When you add the Weddingbook application to your Facebook account you can start by creating your wedding profile.  You can add an image, wedding details, your wedding party, link to your gift registries, and have people sign your guestbook.

One feature allows you to add guests to your guest list, however due to restrictions with Facebook, the Weddingbook application can’t send those invitations to users.  That being said, a story may be published to your friend’s news feed that you created the guest list for your wedding.  There is also an option to prevent those people on your friends list who aren’t on your wedding guest list from seeing the story in their news feed.  This can help you to avoid those embarrassing moments when some of your Facebook friends get hurt because they aren’t invited to your wedding.

Weddingbook users have access to message boards and forums to discuss wedding related topics.  There is also a tab titled “Planning” that has a Google search bar programmed to find only results from TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com.  The search feature is no doubt designed as a way to monetize the application by sending targeted traffic to The Knot’s websites.  But hey, The Knot offers a pretty good service, so you can’t fault them for trying to make a buck off of it.

Finally, Weddingbook offers a cool feature in the form of a wedding countdown that we have also seen added to people’s Facebook profiles.  It serves as a constant reminder of how long you have until the big day and makes all the visitors to your profile aware that you’re actually getting married (if the engaged status didn’t tip them off).

So have you created a Weddingbook account for your wedding?  What are your experiences with it?  Do you have any ideas as to how they can make it better?

Simple Weightloss Tips To Get You In That Dress (or tux)

One of our favourite video sites is Howcast.com.  They have nothing but how-to videos on a ton of different subjects.  And the ones that are produced by the site are simply fantastic.

Here’s one that they sent out in the Howcast newsletter this morning that we thought might be helpful for all those brides and grooms looking for some simple tips on managing weight and losing weight for their weddings.  The embedded video is from Howcast user Carlo Scialla.

Some interesting tips from the video:

  • People who eat a big breakfast rich in protein and carbs lost more weight in one study than those who ate a smaller, low carb breakfast.
  • Studies show that people who do their boozing only on the weekends tend to have more abdominal fat than those who drink a similar amount of alcohol but spread it out over the entire week.
  • Eat slowly, it takes 20 minutes for your full stomach to feel full.
  • Wear comfortable shoes - you’ll walk more!
  • Watch what you’re putting in your coffee - a plain cup of coffee has no fat and only a few calories but a small latte likely has somewhere around 10 grams of fat and 200+ calories.
  • Sleeping medication can cause weight gain

And our favourite tip from the video comes at the very end.  Ladies, you might want to reconsider marrying a guy with less education than you.  The video says that one study shows women whose husbands have more schooling than they do ar ethinner than those with less educated spouses.
