Last week we jetted off to Mexico to enjoy some sun and R&R, and on the plane we found an interesting article by Dena Braun in the January 2009 edition of West Jet’s up! magazine called Nuptials for Daredevils. I couldn’t find the article online to link to, so my apologies for that.
The article provides four locations for extreme destination weddings, one for each season. We thought we’d take Dena’s suggestions and find out a bit more about each idea in a series of posts.
Winter’s idea is right here in Canada at the Hotel de Glace just outside of Quebec City. If you go to their website you can find that they have a wedding section, so they must handle their fair share of weddings. Currently on the site they have three wedding packages listed:
A Romantic Wedding starts at $2199 and includes:
§ Exclusive use of the ice chapel for the bride, groom, and two guests
§ 5 hours with our wedding planner for the wedding of your dreams
§ A bottle of champagne
§ 4 handmade ice flutes created especially for you
§ A civil celebrant to perform the wedding ceremony
An Exotic Wedding starts at $3699 and includes:

The photographer’s website www.xdachez.com has a lot of good pictures to give you an idea of what your wedding might be like at the Hotel de Glace. You also have the option to have your reception at the Hotel de Glace as well, but we couldn’t find any pricing on their website for that.
One interesting thing that Dena Braun includes in her article is that if you’re worried about being cold in your dress you can opt for warmer wedding attire from Corinne Markey’s Marie-Ange collection. Check out the site, they’ve got some neat stuff.
Below is a video tour of the Hotel de Glace shot by Snowtrails TV. It’s by no means wedding related, but it’s the best video we could find on the Hotel de Glace that we could embed here.
